Medical Care

Surgery
Our veterinarians are skilled at many surgeries. From standard spay and neuter procedures to complex intestinal surgery, tumor resections, soft tissue surgery, and even orthopedics. For highly complex surgeries or very high risk anesthesia we can refer your pet to a board certified veterinary surgeon if needed.

Internal Medicine
Our veterinarians have extensive experience with internal medicine cases. We diagnose and treat many common conditions such as thyroid illnesses, Cushing's disease, chronic gastroenteric diseases, Addison's disease, Diabetes Mellitus, kidney disease, lower urinary tract disease, and many other complex conditions. Often the start of an internal medicine consult is a thorough history and physical exam followed by appropriate lab testing.

Neurology
Our veterinarians are skilled at diagnosing and treating a wide variety of neurological conditions. Neurologic conditions may include seizures, epilepsy, congenital neurologic disease, and infections causing neurologic symptoms. Some pets with sever neurologic diseases or injuries may be referred to a neurology specialist for a consult.

Ophthalmology
Our veterinarians are ready to handle your pet's eye needs. Whether your pet suffers from chronic dry eye, eyelid masses, entropion, ocular inflammation, glaucoma, or even allergies we can examine and treat many common eye conditions. For advanced eye problems we can refer to a local ophthalmology specialist.

Behavior
Behavioral problems are very common in pets and place a strain on the human-animal bond. Our goal is to help you and your pet effectively tackle behavioral concerns. Many times a combination of medical therapy and behavioral interventions are needed to help address the problem. If your pet is exhibiting problematic behaviors please schedule an exam so one of our skilled veterinarians can work with you to help your pet! Many behavioral problems that seem too difficult to overcome can have a positive outcome with the right interventions.

Dermatology
Skin problems are very common in dogs and cats, especially in the Mid South. We are well trained and skilled at treating a large number of skin conditions. Often the questions we must ask are:
1) does your pet have active infections? and 2) why are those infections there to begin with?
Very frequently pets that suffer from chronic and recurring skin problems will have an underlying medical problem that must be controlled first.
We also see a large number of environmental allergy cases (atopic dermatitis) and food allergy cases (the can be complex to control). Healthy skin makes for a healthy and happy pet and pet owner. Please schedule an examination today if your pet is suffering from skin disease.

Orthopedics
Our veterinarians are skilled at several common orthopedic procedures. From injuries to the cranial cruciate ligament (commonly referred to ACL tear), to medial patellar luxation and fracture repairs, our veterinarians can help. Complex and high risk cases are referred to a board certified veterinary surgeon locally. If your pet has an orthopedic injury please schedule an appointment today.

Laser Therapy
Our K-Laser Class IV Laser Therapy Unit uses a special mixture of frequencies and wavelengths of infrared light to treat tissues. This type of laser therapy is also referred by some as a "cold laser" to differentiate from a surgical laser.
K-Laser therapy has been well validated for treatment of several injuries including back pain, neck pain, intervertebral disk disease, osteoarthritis, inflammation and wounds. There are specific settings with our laser therapy unit that can be fine tuned for your pet's injury. Laser therapy is an excellent add-on to a pain management protocol for your pet. Laser therapy can also stimulate healing after surgery.
